The exclusions
This is the most important thing to understand about the tool, and the one most likely to make you think it is broken when it is not.
Weapons that always work, statlines that are always true, abilities that are always on — it reads those exactly. It does not score:
- Stratagems and command point usage
- Detachment rules and conditional buffs (unless they are deterministic)
- Auras, positioning, and anything that depends on where models are standing
- Mission, terrain, deployment, and secondary scoring
- Your opponent
- You
Those things are not missing by accident, and they are not on a roadmap to be added. They are excluded because they are not properties of the list — they are properties of the game you are about to play. Fold them in and the number stops meaning anything fixed.
So when a list you know is strong scores near average, the tool is not disagreeing with you. It is telling you that the list's strength lives in the conditional layer — in rules, timing and pilot decisions — rather than in raw efficiency. That is genuinely useful information about a list. It is a different statement from "this list is bad".
Why rules are summarised, not reproduced
Short version: the official rules text is not ours to reproduce.
Games Workshop's rules text is their copyright. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or licensed by them, and reprinting their wording wholesale would be straightforward infringement — regardless of how convenient it would be for everyone involved.
So every rule, stratagem, detachment ability and enhancement in the Stat Lab is shown as our own summary of what it does, not as a copy of what it says. Each one is written so you can quickly understand what that ability does and how it works in the context of the list.
Our summaries should not be used as an in-game reference. For exact wording, edge cases, interactions or legality, go to the official Warhammer App rules or your event organiser.
